The Blue Ruin - Historic Waterfront Property with Private Dock

The Blue Ruin is a beautiful bayside property located in town with incredible views of the harbour and government wharf. Nestled in lush greenery by the bay, it offers complete privacy while being located across the street from many of the island's best restaurants. Bring your own boat or rent one for your stay and keep it tied to the private dock that has a freshwater wash. The property also offers a beautiful saltwater swimming pool and a relaxing pool terrace with views of the harbour

Enter the property through a beautiful wooden arched door into a lush landscaped courtyard with a dining table and access to the guest bedrooms, living room and kitchen. After the front yard, you enter the spacious living room with 20 foot ceilings and the original pickled cypress walls. Adjoining the living room is the dining room and access to the bar/TV lounge, outdoor pavilion and master suite. Access to the guest wing is also available via the master suite. The outdoor pavilion offers beautiful views from its dining and seating areas and is a great place to watch the activity in the harbor and on the government wharf. Below the pavilion, you'll find the first saltwater pool on Harbor Island and steps leading you to the private dock.

The view of Eleuthera Bay is stunning, especially at sunset, and to the right is the charming waterfront and the town dock. Swim in the pool and watch the boats come and go. The Blue Ruin's location makes it perfect for strolling along Bay Street and some of the best restaurants on the island.

Daily cleaning and gardening services are provided (Sundays excluded) and there is a guard house manager who lives on the street if needed for any reason. Private chefs for dinners can also be arranged.

In addition, a new water system and reverse osmosis generator are provided for guests' convenience.

Guests have full access to and use of the property. There is a master bathroom owners' closet and one in the dining room. In addition, there is a caretaker for the property who lives in the furnished basement which is only accessible by external stairs to the side of the house.

Electricity and water can be major issues in Harbour Island. Power currently comes from "temporary" diesel generators and service is regularly interrupted. The fresh water comes from Eleuthera via an undersea pipeline and the aging of the pipe has resulted in an extremely high salt content. For these reasons, The Blue Ruin provides backup power via its own diesel generator and reverse osmosis water system to filter and treat the water supply.

The property is about a 10 to 12 minute walk from the beach and most of the island is very walkable. Renting a golf cart for a day or for your entire stay is a great way to get access to the entire island and is a fun way to get around and see the city.
